Belfry Luna Walkthrough with Boss

The Bell Tower

Belfry Luna and the sister location Belfry Sol are notorious for a high probability of PvP invasions. If you are in online mode, anticipate frequent invasions potentially by multiple Gray Spirits as you proceed through the area. Once you step onto the bridge leading into the bell tower, you are susceptible to invasion.

This is a small area with fairly straight forward design. Upon entering the tower, immediately to the right of the doorway is the Belfry Guard. You can choose to speak to him at this point, as exhausting his dialogue will prompt him to offer joining the Bell Keepers covenant. Be warned that joining still leaves you susceptible to invasions, however. Proceed straight through the hall and up the first flight of stairs. Watch for the hole at the top landing, which will drop you back to the tower entry. Your first Bell Keeper enemy will be behind and to your right when you reach the second floor.

If human while climbing the stairs you will receive an invasion notice, the Dark Spirit Bell Keeper is waiting on the top of the tower. Proceed up the second flight of stairs to the third floor, you will encounter three more silver Bell Keepers. The doorway leading to the boss encounter is blocked, so you will need to climb the long ladder to the top floor.

Invader: Bell Keeper

Regardless of whether you have the Red Phantom, there will be several silver Bell Keepers to contend with here. The Dark Spirit has more HP than the regular Bell Keepers, but seems to have the same AI. This is a divide-and-conquer type of fight, and is almost comical in the constant running away from tiny enemies. While running around the arena in a circle you can simply grab the lever and unlock the boss door in case you do not make it back down.

The Bell Keepers will destroy you with their rapid arrow attacks, which cannot be dodged by running. Roll or make good use of the angled stone corners around the arena. Generally the keepers will chase you in a straight line, and occasionally one will separate for you to take a few quick swings. If you are not able to stagger the keepers, they will shoot you at every opportunity while attacking. A spear and shield combo could be useful here.

Boss fight: Belfry Gargoyles

A clear homage to Dark Souls Gargoyles, which was itself an homage to Demon's Souls Maneaters, you now have to contend with five Gargoyles, each with their own life bar. Four or even five can be engaged with you at once if you fail to kill them fast enough.

See Belfry Gargoyles for more information.

Invader: Vorgol the Sinner

After defeating the boss you can access the only bonfire in the area. The area down the ladder next to the bonfire has multiple dogs, and a Red Phantom encounter. An Enchanted Falchion is on the platform at the top of the stairs, and the Bastille Key is on the ground below. (In Scholar of the First Sin, the Bastille Key is replaced with the Dragon Tooth, a Brightbug, and a Petrified Something)

With persistence and the correct target lock angle, the dogs can be taken out with arrows from the top of the ladder. It's recommended to at least kill a couple of them, as they will all aggro you the moment you touch the ground. Both a short bow and a light crossbow can hit the dogs. It seems easiest with a light crossbow in the left hand while the dogs roam toward the right. Push against the ladder as you cannot fall.

Vorgol is a straightforward spear user but will easily guard break you when your shield is up.

The Immolation pyromancy can be found just before entering Iron Keep again.

Black Knight Greatsword, Protective Chime and Grand Spirit Tree Shield are behind an illusory wall. Go through Belfry Sol and take the ladder down at the end, pass the corner and the illusory wall is on your right.

There is a rarely spawning Red Phantom called the Mad Warrior, who wields a pair of Berserker Blade katanas. This enemy has a low chance of dropping this weapon as well as individual pieces of the entire set of armor he wears, which is unique and only obtainable from him. See his article for more information.

The Dual Avelyn Bell Keeper and Bell Keeper Mage have their own rare drop: Black Witch Domino Mask and Black Witch Veil, respectively. They only spawn once and the drops are very rare, so it's likely you'll have to use many Bonfire Ascetics to get them.

Belfry Sol Map (Japanese)

Item Guide

This area is slightly hidden, located in the Iron Keep on the path to the Old Iron King boss. After defeating the Smelter Demon boss (or bypassing it using the path from the furnace) you will reach a room filled with lava and suspended catwalks. There will be a lever in front of you and to the left, a set of stairs. Beside the stairs is a room with a Pharros' Lockstone device inside. Activate the device to reveal an illusory wall with a ladder behind it. There is a bonfire up here, but be advised that once you drop down to the bonfire you cannot get back to the lava room until you've beaten the area (or warped through the bonfire) without some kind of fall damage control.

At the bonfire you will find a ladder leading to the area, and an NPC who will allow you to join the Bell Keepers covenant if you have not done so already. As in Belfry Luna, there are several Bell Keeper phantoms here, in addition to Phantom NPCs who wield a Greatsword and dual Avelyn crossbows among other things, so take caution. Additionally, there is also a rare chance that Mad Warrior spawns near the long ladder.

To go back to the lava room without clearing the area, take out the bell keeper who charges into the room when you reach the top of the ladder. After defeating him, equip as few things as possible plus your fall damage control equipment, stand at the opposing corner to the belfry guard, then run towards him and fall through the ladder hole. You should fall near the top of the ladder leading to the Pharros contraption.

Damage taken from the fall:

Three pieces of the lion warrior set (including the skirt): ~200
Silvercat Ring: ~200
Silvercat Ring and one piece of the lion warrior set (beside the skirt): ~80
Silvercat Ring and two pieces of the lion warrior set (beside the skirt): negligible

Walkthrough

Map (Japanese)

Map (English)

To enter the DLC, you must go to the primal bonfire after the Old Iron King and examine the obelisk in the room after the bonfire. Once in the DLC, you will be in a room containing stairs leading to an elevator, and two side rooms. These side rooms can be used by players whom do not have the DLC to place their summon signs, allowing them to be summoned into the Iron Passage or the Memory of the Old Iron King ? . Go up the stairs and open the big door with the Heavy Iron Key.

Straight ahead is an elevator, take it and at the top, cross the mist wall. Turn right and go up the stairs. You will see several bodies strewed across the floor, and the remains of an Ashen Idol holding 6 x Smelter Wedge. Remember to save four of these for the room containing the Fume Knight. Cross the giant chain, and in front of you will be the Throne Floor bonfire. As soon as you reach an ash covered area after some stairs, an Ashen Idol will appear. Avoid it's flame pillar attack and examine it, and use a Smelter Wedge to destroy it. It will drop a Soul of Nadalia, Bride of Ash fragment. Go down the stairs on the left side of the area and pick up the Dexterity Ring of the corpse.

Go back up and go through the doorway parallel to the stairs. Follow the path and drop down onto the elevator, and again onto the round platform. Pick up the 2 x Old Growth Balm from the corpse and drop down onto the level below. Go through the doorway and down into an ash field. An Ashen Warrior will emerge from the ash, kill it and pick up 2 x Twilight Herb from the corpse on the left. Destroy all of the ash bodies and pick up a Large Soul of a Proud Knight. There is another ramp, to the right of the ramp is a corpse holding a Rouge Water. Four Ashen Warriors will appear once you go down the ramp, dispatch them. Enter the doorway to the right and go down the ladder. Go around the round structure to pick up a Blackweed Balm. Continue down another ladder and pick up 10 x Prism Stone from a corpse.
Following the hallway at the bottom of the ladder, you will find a metal chest containing a Titanite Slab. Continue down the ladder next to the metal chest and you will enter a large room containing an Ashen Idol and several Ashen Warriors. Try to destroy the Ashen Idol as quickly as possible. In the room to the right of the ladder are two more Ashen Warriors and a corpse holding the pyromancy Dance of Fire. At the end of the large room and to the left is a lever. Pull it to open the big door. Follow the path to the left of the door to find 2 Ashen Warriors hiding in ash and several ash figures. Destroy the ash figures to find 2 x Old Mundane Stone. There is also a corpse holding 5 x Lloyd's Talisman. Opposite this corpse is a fake wall, open it and within are two metal chests. One contains 4 x Old Radiant Lifegem and 4 x Wilted Dusk Herb. The other contains 2 x Soul Vessel.

Go back up to the doorway and follow the path right.

Description

A dark abyss chasm, containing remnants of ages long gone.

Location

First, talk to Darkdiver Grandahl in all three of his locations (Black Gulch, Shaded Woods, and Drangleic Castle) in any order to join the Pilgrims of Dark covenant.
Entering requires one Human Effigy, but the first time is free.

These abyss dungeons can be completed in any order. After defeating Darklurker, entering the chasm does not cost a human effigy, and this effect lingers even after leaving the covenant.

Walkthrough

In order to face the Darklurker boss, you need to ignite the brazier within each Chasm area. To do this you need to use a Flame Butterfly to light your torch when within a Chasm, as attempting to enter a Chasm with an already lit torch, extinguishes it, and there are no available fire sources within a chasm to use.
Torches, or the sorcery Cast Light, are both very useful tools within the Chasms to light your way.

Dark Chasm of Old [Drangleic Castle]

You arrive in a water-filled cave with several deep sections that will instantly kill your character if stepped in. There are, however, thin "bridges" of ground where you can walk safely. Consider using a torch to navigate through this small labyrinth.

After you exit this area, you arrive at another bridge of ground, this time with just a drop to your death on both sides, and a waterfall to your left. Almost immediately after this bridge, on your left, you can see a phantom wearing Havel's Set and Dragon Tooth. Be careful to not catch his attention before you are ready; Havel hits like a truck, and he is fast to boot. Consider luring him to the bridge and shoving him off with a strong attack or another knockback ability.

After you've dealt with Havel, you have two directions. On the left, there are two phantoms: a Forest Spirit and a sword-and-shield melee phantom wielding Ricard's Rapier. On the right, there is a dual-wielding melee phantom.

Approach the Forest Spirit from the left so that you don't aggro Ricard yet. The caster will notice you as you approach and attempt to hit you with soul arrow-type spells. Dodge or block these and smash him at close range. Be careful not to fall into the holes on the way.

After the fight, you might have triggered Ricard to move from his initial position. Examine the direction you came from and see if you can see Ricard. If you can't, he's at his initial location in the corridor to your left. If you try to turtle defend against him with a shield, he will attempt a guard break and then hit you with several quick stabs while you're stunlocked.

Proceed to the narrow bridge that leads you to a brazier. After this, go kill the dual-wielding phantom and exit from the hole behind her.

If you revive Darklurker by using Bonfire Ascetic on the Under Drangleic Castle bonfire, you must go through this section of the Dark Chasm of Old to reach him. Using Bonfire Ascetic on the other two bonfires will not revive him (although this will revive the phantoms) and the other two sections of the Dark Chasm of Old will not lead to him.

Dark Chasm of Old [Shaded Woods]

Continue along the corridor until you arrive to a room with a large pitfall. In the next room, you will face two phantoms simultaneously. One of them is an archer and another a shield-and-sword melee phantom.

You don't want to have them surround you, so lure both phantoms into a chokepoint (for example, the corridor between the pitfall room and the phantom room) and deal with them face-to-face one after another. Consider trapping this chokepoint with Lingering Flame so that you can deal some helpful initial damage before you engage them in melee.

After the phantoms are dealt with, you need to get past a Forest Spirit on the far side of the room. This phantom casts a traveling shockwave that probably will knock you down if it hits. Note that immediately before the this phantom there is a hard-to-see pitfall, so don't rush in too carelessly.

After the Spirit is dead, you can light the brazier in the room. Go forward, call the elevator with the lever and then ride the elevator down.

You arrive in a large cavern with a ledge overlooking the rest of the area. Below the ledge, you will see a dual-wielding melee phantom. Don't let this phantom guard break you, as he will get several hits in while you are recovering.

When this final phantom dies, the nearby fog door guarding the exit dissolves.

Dark Chasm of Old [Black Gulch]

This map has six enemies: two phantoms dual-wielding Drakekeeper's Great Hammers and wearing the Ironclad Set, two phantoms wearing the Xanthous Set and casting pyromancies, and two Forest Spirits.

As you start you will enter a somewhat lit room with a spiral going down. If you can, try to make the first dual-wielding hammer phantom to attack you without making the pyromancer aggressive, otherwise this will be a hard fight.
It may help to go back up and fight the pyromancer in the wide open area instead of the ramp.

Once you kill the first group, proceed down the tunnel, on your left is the brazier. Then head right, toward the waterfalls. This next particular area has a few pitfalls, so be wary.

In this room, there is another hammer wielding phantom on a ramp going down. Draw his aggro and run back so you don't draw the attention of the pyromancer behind him.
Take care them in the same way as the first two. Go down the ramp, the final Forest Spirit should be very easy to kill as long as you can dodge miracles.

Once everything is dead, go to the end and drop down to the exit.

Dragon Shrine Video Walkthrough (Starts at 20:30 from Dragon Aerie)

Starting at the first bonfire, head up the stairs and defeat the first Drakekeeper. Right behind him there should be a few barrels and crates, hiding a Pharros' Contraption. Activate it to reveal a chest containing the Judgment Set and the Staff of Wisdom. To the right of him, there should be an area with a chest (including x3 Bonfire Ascetics). After clearing this area, walk up the stairs behind him and confront the greathammer wielding Drakekeeper. Defeat him and turn left, walk up the stairs and kill the Drakekeeper there. There will be a chest here including a Twinkling Titanite, take it then "convince" the Dark Priestess to stop spamming miracles at you. From the circular platform you can jump to another platform with a chest that contains the Drakekeeper's Greataxe and Drakekeeper's Greatshield.

You've now cleared the first part of the area. Jump down from the platform and walk up the stairs. You will come upon two Drakekeepers. After killing them, look back to the area above the stairs you just climbed. You should see a few barrels and crates, roll through them and jump down. There will be two chests here. The chest to the right is a Mimic. After killing the Mimic and looting the chest, proceed onward.

After slaying the Mimic, follow the road to the Drakekeeper, slay him and enter the doors. Follow the staircase to the top of the tower. As you get close to the top, you will get invaded by Dragonfang Villard, who shouldn't be a real problem. Slay him and proceed by picking up the Petrified Egg. After picking it up, loot the chest to the right of it to claim a Watchdragon Parma. Jump down to the platform below, where you will find a chest with Crystal Magic Weapon. Take it or don't take it then jump down the last platform and you should be back by the Drakekeeper duo.

Enter the door right after the duo and you should come across a small hallway. Just run through it and open the door on the other side. You will come out at the top of the Citadel. Before reaching the peak, however, you will have to slay the last few guardians.. Start by killing the two Drakekeepers, then proceed to aggro one of the two Dragon Knights. Kill them both, one at a time and proceed by killing the next pair of Drakekeepers. Just be sure to aggro them from a distance. After slaying them, continue up the last piece of the stairs only to be met by the last Dragon Knight. He shouldn't be much of a fight so just kill him and proceed to the Ancient Dragon.

Area complete! You've looted every single item and killed every single opponent in the Dragon Shrine. You can now choose to either kill the Ancient Dragon or just talk to him to receive the Ashen Mist Heart and warp back to the last bonfire.

Description

A grand castle.

To enter the castle, you need to kill the Royal Swordsmen that spawn. Make sure they die near the statues to allow their souls to be absorbed. Once each statue has fulfilled it's goal, it will lift the bolt. Once both bolts are up, the doors will open.

Item Guide

Starting from The Mines bonfire in Harvest Valley, take a right and you'll come across a canyon filled with poison mist. Kill the Undead Steelworker on the wooden bridge that goes over the poison mist and head straight across. You'll find a doorway that leads into a room with poison pots and two Undead Steelworkers inside. The first Steelworker is immediately left of the door and the second one is on the other side of the room, but they're far enough apart to aggro separately. Let each one come to you so they run into the pots and becomes poisoned for some free damage.

Optional Side-path

  • On your right, there's a ladder that goes down to a second room with poison pots and one Undead Steelworker. From here, take a left and you'll enter a room full of poison mist that the game says is in Earthen Peak. Note: If you have progressed farther in the game there may be no poison mist, however it isn't a major enough issue to warrant waiting for later.
  • If you walk straight off the wooden stairs/porch here you'll fall to your death, so instead take the stairs on your right and walk down the corridor.
  • Along the corridor you'll find a room on the right with Poison Horn Beetles (or Lucatiel of Mirrah in Scholar of the First Sin) and a Pharros' Contraption which can be opened with a Pharros' Lockstone. When opened, it will reveal a secret chest that contains the Poisonbite Ring and a consumable soul.
  • Exit the room and take a right toward the end of the hallway to find an Estus Flask Shard on a corpse against some metal bars.
  • Run back to the second room with poison pots and climb back up the ladder, returning to the first room with poison pots.

Head straight across the room and you'll end up in Earthen Peak on the main path. Before continuing it is recommended to return to your previous bonfire and rest. You only need to kill three Undead Steelworkers to return to the entrance and the Covetous Demon guards the area's first bonfire, so it's a good idea to heal and recharge before you start.

In the middle of this forest lies a rundown fort that was severely damaged during the war with the giants.
The soldiers tasked with defending this fort succumbed to the curse of the undead and hollowed long ago,
but they remain a threat to any who would seek to uncover the fort's secrets.
And the undead that protect this fort are not the only threat…

Bonfire and Twinkling Titanite before King's Ring

First visit

  1. From Majula, you enter this area along the coast by The Far Fire bonfire. Going through a tunnel a bit, you'll come across a switch you will need to pull in order to open the large gate. Further on in the cave, cross a wooden bridge and take a left down to a chest containing a Human Effigy. Across the way, you can see another item, a Homeward Bone and a Soul of a Lost Undead. If you want to risk the jump (a fall will kill you) go ahead, but you can reach it hassle free just outside. Go back to the bridge and follow the right hand path down out of the cave and in to the forest proper. On your right you can follow the river upstream to get the items mentioned earlier.
  2. Following the river, you will come across some hollows before you reach this areas first bonfire right across the river, The Crestfallen's Retreat. In SotFS, an Ogre spawns in the river, which will not go hostile unless you go too close.
  3. Kill the Hollow Infantry infesting the area. Watch out for the one feigning death near the end of the stream. Climb the ladder.
  4. At the top, you enter an open courtyard with a large tree as its centerpiece There is a Heide Knight resting under the tree. He is not hostile until you attack him (Does not spawn in SofTS). There are three Hollow Infantry wandering about and an archer just out of reach. Dispatch these hollows and head through the opening to your right. Head up the ladder here and take out two more hollows on the stairs. Find your way to the archer along the ledge and the treasure just beyond.
  5. There are two items up here. One past the archer (Shortsword and Soul of a Lost Undead) and another just past the top of the stairs (Soul of a Nameless Soldier). Head back down the ladder and look down and behind you. The items (10x Throwing Knife and Soul of a Nameless Soldier) on that bluff can be reached with a good jump. Make your way back up to courtyard and just by the fog gate is another hollow playing dead. Kill it and pass through.
  6. Follow the tunnel down until you see a sharp bend to the left. Ahead of you there will be a hole in the wall. At this point you can pass through the hole into the room beyond or follow the corridor round to the left to enter the same room via the door. If you pass through the hole, you'll land pretty much on top of two Hollow Infantry, who may prove tough in the confined space. Taking the corridor to the left, however, holds its own danger as there's a hollow waiting to chop you in the face as you round the corner. Whichever path you choose, you'll need to fight all three of these hollows. Once they're defeated, break the bookcase behind the door to find 20 Wooden Bolts.
  7. Having cleared the room, continue up the corridor, taking care of the Hollow Royal Soldier on your way. You'll see a large hole in the wall to your left. Don't bother trying to climb out through it - we'll come back here later. Instead, continue up the stairs. There's an archer at the top just waiting to put an arrow in your eye. At the top of the stairs, you may become quickly overwhelmed, as you'll be greeted by the archer we just mentioned, a Hollow Infantryman and a firebomb-hurling Hollow Soldier perched on a branch above the stairs.
  8. In front of the top of the staircase you'll see a ladder, but don't climb it just yet - first turn around and head over to the large slabs of stone behind the branch where the firebomb hollow was. Be careful as you approach - there's a hollow waiting for you, hidden by one of the large chunks of stone. Once he's dispatched, grab the Buckler from a corpse and then head up the ladder.

Cardinal Tower

  1. At the top of the ladder, you'll see a large set of doors ahead and to your right. Don't pass through them just yet, though. First go past the doors and turn right into the little alley. Here's a Hollow Soldier playing dead. Dispatch him quickly and then grab the five Witching Urns on the corpse to your left. Then head back to the doors, open them and enjoy warmth of the second bonfire!
  2. Light the bonfire then go upstairs, break the door (hit it a few times) and open the chests. There is a Hollow Soldier playing dead who will rise as you proceed through the door. In the next room grab an Estus Flask Shard and the Small White Sign Soapstone. You can jump here and back to the bonfire (there is a Divine Blessing on a branch).
  3. From here you should step back through the door (that leads you this bonfire) and you will see a deck. Drop down and you will see two hollows, keep going and you will see on your left a hole on the wall (same hole that you saw when you first come right before the second bonfire). Don't bother and keep going till you see a edge with a loot, jump and keep going and go jump wood by wood till the ground and kill the six hollows walking around. You will see two caves, the first one has a body with a Hollow Soldier Helm, and second one is on fire and has some burned corpses in front of it.
  4. Keep going deeper till you see the giant Flame Salamander, just wait a second and learn his pattern and run to the door on your left, inside you will find a Fire Longsword. Get back, and go to your left, till you reach a pile of trash and you will find a ladder leading you close to the hole mentioned above.
  5. Use the hole and get back to the 2nd bonfire. From here you should go down the ladder and go to your left, kill three hollows (one before the bridge, one patrolling and one after the bridge). Grab the treasures and and forget this doors by now, go to the only way you can keep going. Kill another sleeping hollow and pass the mist. A bunch of hollows will annoy you with arrows and two will come after you, just get back and wait for these two. There's a lot to do here, but for practicality's sake it's best to open the shortcut for the second bonfire and skip this area for now.
  6. Head up to the top of the root, onto the wall, and look to your left. There are two hollows behind some planks, and one above. Kill the two on the ground first. If you head up the nearby ladder to take care of the bomb-throwing hollow, be prepared: The Pursuer will drop down on you. At this stage in the game you're not likely to survive this fight. Best to hold on until you're stronger. You could always take care of the bomb-throwing hollow with arrows or spells, but don't do that yet unless you have firebombs or pyromancy to spare. Notice all those black barrels over there by the cracked wall, right at the end? If they get hit by fire, the wall blasts open, and voila: You have a neat little shortcut back to the bonfire.
  7. Once you break the wall it's a good idea to go back to previously skipped area. Drop down into a house in more or less half way of that giant root and will see a hollow here an a loot, then drop down again. On the ground there is an archer near ladder, kill him and climb up. Keep cleaning the place on the roofs till you see a place where you need to jump. before you jump you may want to drop down to a building and find some titanite on a body near the gate. If you did that go back up and jump.
  8. Kill another archer and keep going till you see a cave, walk carefully because a rock will roll over you and grab grab some Amber Herbs from a body. Talk to Cale the Cartographer until he gives you House Key, which opens the mansion in Majula. Exit the cave and climb the ladder. There will be one last archer on a wall if you didn't shoot him earlier. Now go back to the second bonfire.
  9. Exit through the broken wall and go left. Kill two soldiers and drop down. On NG+ there will be Knight Phantom on top of a gate that will come down to fight you. Enter to your right and quickly pull back. There are some soldiers shooting ballistas at you. If you are lucky they will kill one of their own. Kill rest of them and grab all the Great Soul Arrow and Blue Wooden Shield. Drop a floor down. Wooden chest is trapped but has some titanite in it. If you have Pharros' Lockstone you can access two chests - one with Chloranthy Ring and another with Titanite Slab. Knock on a door and a hollow will open, kill him and his friends and get some more titanite and Life Ring from a chest. Go back up and exit the room with ballistae.
  10. Go forward, in front of you there is an Old Ironclad Soldier (in SotFS replaced by two Hollow Soldiers. You can ignore him until you deal with the Soldiers throwing firebombs at you. To the right you will find a dead Giant - there is a soul item behind him. Climb up the ladder. In SotFS there is an Invisible Hollow, near the brazier. Attack the shadows. You will find a Light Crossbow here, you can use it to kill those firebomb throwing soldiers. Enter their barracks and get a Infantry Helm and Mail Breaker from the metal chest. Drop down and deal with the Ironclad. Watch out as he can blow up the black barrels with his attacks. Now go talk to Mild Mannered Pate sitting near the gate.
  11. Whatever you liked him or not enter the doorway. Don't worry there is way out of here. Just fight your way through. There are about six soldier in the building but they won't attack you all at once. Just before stairs there is an illusory wall on the right. Sorcerer's Staff is in the chest behind it.
  12. After you fought your way through drop down and talk with Pate. He will give you the White Sign Soapstone. Jolly good!
  13. Go back to were you fought the Ironclad and go through the opening. There is a body up the stairs to your right. To your left there are more soldiers. There is one body one the ground and another on the end of a giant sword guarded by soldier. After you deal with this area enter the fog gate.
  14. There is a Crystal Lizard in a room to your right. You might wake up the sleeping soldier while you kill the lizard. There is a Small Leather Shield in a dead end downstairs. Exit the room and go right. You should unlock a door here. This will lead you back to a second bonfire.
  15. Ride down the elevator to fight the Last Giant. If you summon Pate and he survives the fight with the boss, he will give you his armor set, spear and ring later in the game.

Soldier Key

  1. You get the Soldier Key from the Last Giant. There are four locked doors nearby to open:
    1. One is up the stairs in the same room as the Cardinal Tower bonfire. This door can be destroyed with weapons.
    2. The second locked door is down the ladder and across the bridge, and leads to a treasure chest containing a Ring of Restoration, and the King's Gate. The gate is impassable for now.
    3. The third locked door is easy to miss: Once you head down the ladder, and you enter the room just before you head up the giant root, look to your right. You'll see a sconce and the locked door. Inside you'll encounter a dark corridor full of Ironclads and a sleeping hollow to your left. Continue to the open outside area.
  2. On top of the roof you can find three Cracked Red Eye Orbs. Inside the building is a free Bastard Sword.
  3. If you go in the opening closest to door you entered the area through, you can harvest a Seed of a Tree of Giants from the tree if you're lucky. In the second-closest opening, there is a third bonfire: Soldier's Rest. On NG+ Catarina Knight will drop down on you as you enter room with a Giant's remains At the back of the area there is a chest on some scaffolding, containing the Leather Set.
  4. The last Soldier Key door is located in the area behind the first Ironclad. There are two soldiers there (and one Red Phantom on NG+). In SotFS three Royal Swordsman and one Hollow Soldier archer are in the corridor behind this door. If you didn't already kill the Pursuer there is a fog gate leading to his boss fight. After you kill him go to the next room and drop down to find a body with the Drangleic Set, sword and shield. Go back up and interact with the bird's nest. This is one way travel to the Lost Bastille.

After obtaining King's Ring and Ashen Mist Heart

  1. Now that you have King's Ring you can open the King's Gate. You will find the fourth bonfire here. Here you can enter Memory of Jeigh and fight the Giant Lord. Drop down to loot two Twinkling Titanite from a body.
  2. The giant's remains behind the area where you fought the Pursuer lead to Memory Of Orro and the ones near Pate's trap will lead to Memory of Vammar.

Walkthrough 1 (Main Walkthrough)

This whole area is covered in a blinding blizzard. This makes it very hard to navigate, and can allow the enemies to catch you off guard. Occasionally, the blizzard will die down, allowing you to see where to go next.

From the direction you spawn facing (12:00), walking backwards to the left (7:30) will bring you to an area with two NPC summon signs.

One of the ruined houses contains a Pharros contraption which creates a healing pool of water. This can be used for NPC summons.

To get to the boss, stick to the right wall, go until you see the cliff, move along the cliff to the left you should see a path to go down and lead to the boss room. Ignore the horses, they will keep respawning more and more and you will be overwhelmed eventually if you keep on killing them. The 2 NPC summons will provide great distraction.

Frigid Outskirts & Boss Walk-through Video

Walkthrough 2 (Boring but easy)

From the coffin, walk towards the light. You should encounter one horse on your way to the wall. Kill it, and continue following the light until you hit a wall. When you hit the wall, travel to the left of it for a very, very, very long time. This is a very long way with several horses (4 or 5) but it's the easiest and you shouldn't get lost on your way. As you continue following the wall, you'll end up by the cliff sooner or later. Follow the edge of the cliff to get the Ring of the Living on a corpse, and keep going until you reach the path. Then you can enter the boss fog. If you stick to this path but die a lot by the horses, they will eventually despawn, so it is recommended to just kill them on your way. DO NOT waste any Estus while fighting the horses. You may need as much Estus as possible to win against Lud, the King's Pet & Zallen, the King's Pet.

Walkthrough with only 3 horses to fight and no human enemies.

The key to accomplishing this very easy method to get to the boss gate is to run from building to building without stopping. From the summoning area, face the first building and when the blizzard clears immediately run to the back left corner of the building. There should be no horses to kill on this stretch. Go to the front door of this building and look towards the next building. Once the blizzard clears again, run to the corpse that is slightly left of the building and about halfway there. Once you get to the corpse angle a little right and run directly towards the building. You will be in a blizzard when you get to the corpse, so you have to guess how much to turn. Do not fight the horse that will spawn, just try to dodge or tank the lightning. Once you reach the building, kill the hollows and horse, heal if necessary and prepare for the next stretch. Go to the door on the side with the Pharros Contraption and wait for the next clearing. Immediately run to the back left corner of the next building. You will not aggro the human enemy but will have one horse to dodge on the way. Once inside kill the hollow and fight the horse on the raised area inside the building. Hopefully, the rampart golem will ignore you until you are done. Kill the golem and prepare for the last stretch. Looking straight out the door where the golem was, you can see the pathway down to the bridge. You want to aim a little right of that so that you are dropping into the pathway about halfway. When it is clear run to the pathway and drop into it. Fight the single horse that should spawn down in the pathway before walking out onto the bridge. Now proceed to the boss. This can be done with or without summons. The two NPC summons will be a good distraction for the horses while you are running between buildings. Here is a video of this method showing both with and without summons:

Poison Pool

The first bonfire is accessed as soon as you enter this area. It is to the right of your path, through a pool of poison. Poison will stick to you when you pass through it and will continue to build for some time after you leave the pool. Sprinting through the pool should allow you to pass through without actually poisoning your character.

Slightly beyond the bonfire, you will have your first encounter with Stone Trader Chloanne. She can sell you some spells & regular titanite shards at this point. Exhaust her dialog options and she will relocate to Majula.

Continuing on down the path, you will come to the first area filled with poison mist. Passing through the mist will build your poison gauge, but unlike the pool, doesn't stick to your player. You also encounter your first Mounted Overseer. They are slow, but their dark magic and melee attacks can be devastating. Once he is dead, you are free to collect the mass quantity of loot in the poison mist, including what is likely the first Titanite Chunk of your playthrough.

Right behind where the Mounted Overseer was located is the entrance to a small cave with a single Skeleton. Once he has been dispatched, you are free to loot the dead body hanging over the pit. The body contains a Fragrant Branch of Yore. In this same small cave there is a chest within the poison pool at the bottom containing a Fire seed and a Divine Blessing. Continue further into the cave for a chest containing a Raw Stone and another encounter with Lonesome Gavlan (only if you have already talked to him in No-Man's Wharf). Once you have finished trading with him, you can head back out of the cave.

Up the ramp, you can access the next area with two Mounted Overseers (replaced by two Desert Sorceresses in Scholar of the First Sin); use the same tactics as before or climb the ladders in the area to snipe them from range. Just be aware that there are several Undead Laborers on the cliffs as well. By climbing the ladder at the back of the small valley, you can access a switch that will open the door to the mines. Go through the gate you just opened and the Mines bonfire will be in a tunnel to the right.

The Mines

After resting at the bonfire, exit back out of the tunnel and head right into an open area without any enemies. Be careful of the open pits scattered throughout this open area; none of the drops will kill you, but you drop down into poison mist. At several points, you can drop down into the mist to access some loot and exit out without encountering enemies or major delays.

If you take a left through a gap in the wall, you can access a side area with a ton of loot. Once you reach the top of the hill, a Mounted Overseer will smash through a wall. If you circle around him, you can trigger him to attack the back wall and open access to some, otherwise unreachable, loot. (In NG+ the second wall will be broken down by an Artificial Undead). An Old Knight Pike and Old Knight Greatshield can be found on the body in the righthand corner.

Exit back through the path you entered by and about halfway through, you can access an additional area through a hole in the wall to your left. Note - once entering that area, you will not be able to exit through the hole you pass through. This is home to a fairly nasty ambush with four Artificial Undead. Avoid engaging them all at the same time. Ideally, sprinting up the ramp, looping 180 back to follow the path and breaking the wood slats blocking the exit. From there, you can engage them one at a time. This is an excellent opportunity to use Yearn. Remain in the alley and do not drop into the arena, fire Yearn across the area then pick the Artificial Undead off with Sorcery or arrows. Once they are all dead, you can access a fairly significant stash of loot. Be sure to break all of the slots to access loot hidden in the alcoves; watching out for some random Undead Laborer. Once you have collected everything, head back up the ramp and out the same path where you fought the Overseers. Going left leads to a drop into poison mist that will kill you but there is a Crystal Lizard so zap it with magic and approach the edge with caution. If you instead go right, you can access some additional loot and drop back into the open area with pits, near the bonfire. Stopping at the bonfire again is recommended at this point as you won't have to fight these enemies again.
Loot from this area:

From the bonfire, walk out again into the open area and go through the tunnel on the right side. On the other side you see a bridge, drop down to the right of this bridge, the body here contains the spell Chameleon and some additional loot in the poison mist. Once you do that, you will have to either engage or side-skirt two more Mounted Overseer.

Head back up the ramp and across the wood bridge to engage your first Undead Steelworker. From that wood bridge there are three paths. One left, one straight, one farther off to the right. Follow the path straight to a doorway that leads to another Undead Steelworker in a room full of poison pots. He'll aggro you when you take the left or right path so best to kill him now even though you're not going to actually take the straight path yet. You can aggro him without entering the room, which is highly recommended to avoid the poison pots and aggroing more enemies. Once he is dead, go take the left path instead. It'll lead around the poison mist pit to another cave. Once inside, watch for another Artificial Undead. Be careful as he tends to be at different locations in the cave when you go in. Once he has been dispatched, you can access the Heirs of the Sun covenant and learn the Praise the Sun gesture by praying at the altar.

Exit the cave and head back towards the wooden bridge and this time you want to take the right path. There will be a stone corridor leading into a room full of poison pots with two more Undead Steelworker. Try to lure the one out before entering; the second will be standing immediately to your left when you enter the room. Once both are dead you can walk through the doorway on the other side and you'll find a poison mist room. You are now in Earthen Peak and this path will have some good items (including Estus Flask Shard) before becoming a dead end. You will have to momentarily go back to Harvest Valley before entering Earthen Peak from another door. Information for this dead end and then onward can be found in a separate section within the walkthrough for Earthen Peak.

Tower of Flame Walkthrough

This is a small area with two bosses. Orienting yourself as you emerge from the sewer tunnel, the Old Dragonslayer is in the Cathedral of Blue to your left. You can avoid fighting him unless you want to join the Blue Sentinels. The Dragonrider is in the circular structure straight ahead. You must defeat him to progress to No-man's Wharf. It's worth heading toward the Cathedral first as there is valuable loot just before the boss fight. In SotFS you can ignore all the sitting Heide Knights, they are passive until hit, or you kill the Dragonrider.

After exiting the sewers, head towards the first Old Knight. Before you get to him take the path to the right down to the bonfire. You can run past the Knights easily but you will want to defeat the two that guard switches. The Knights will pursue you so you may wish to eliminate them. Stay close, circle and roll. Be wary of falling off the narrow path into the sea. The second Knight who wields a great hammer will not respawn so taking him out will make subsequent run throughs easier. He does respawn in SotFS. There is loot on a corpse to the right of the stairs. The third Knight guards a switch that raises an outer ring of floor in the Dragonrider's area which will make that fight much easier.

Follow the path into the large circular structure and head left to the Cathedral of Blue or right to the Dragonrider. There are three Knights in here but you can just run past. Heading left you will find loot down stairs to your left and two more Knights before a set of stairs straight ahead. Continue up the stairs to an open platform. The enemies will follow you so be quick. The final sword-wielding Knight awaits. Circle and roll, trying to hit his back. If the last two Knights arrive, backtrack across the narrow walkway for some breathing space and healing if needed. Stay locked onto the original Knight because as soon as he is dead, the switch will appear. Activate the switch and a drawbridge to the Cathedral of Blue with appear. The drawbridge will now be permanent. At the top of the bridge is a chest with the Ring of Binding. Enter the Cathedral of Blue through the fog gate and fight the Old Dragonslayer.

Head back to take the path to Dragonrider or travel back to the first bonfire if you haven't activated the switch behind the Knight. In the large circular building with the three Knights, there is a switch which raises another ring of floor in the Dragonrider boss area. Leaving the large circular building, follow the stairs down to the right. There is a chest to the right and a Knight to the left before the fog gate. Run past him and enter, or fight him in order to summon an NPC White Phantom, Masterless Glencour.

In the boss fight, stay close to Dragonrider, circle and roll to your left and hit him in the back. Manage your stamina carefully as quick rolling is the key here. His swings are easily avoided. He will try to bash you with his shield and break your poise. Don't back away as he will charge you. Be careful of falling in this confined space. When victorious, head through the door and up the stairs to the bonfire and to talk to Licia of Lindeldt who sells miracles. Carry on to No-man's Wharf.

Description

The Undead hunts during the reign of the Iron King took place in this forest, and the cells in which the Undead were held still stand there to this day.
However, the march of time has eroded any difference between the captors and the captives.

The Huntsman Copse is, at first, a cave like area leading in from Majula, that opens in to a small forested area with a few buildings. It is initially locked until Licia of Lindeldt is spoken to at Heide's Tower of Flame after defeating the Dragonrider. Exhausting her dialogue here will prompt her to move to the rotunda room in Majula, next to the contraption that cannot be activated on the way to Heide's.

She will request 2,000 souls to make the contraption turn, opening a clear path to Huntsman's Copse.

Iron Keep Video Walkthrough Pt. 1

Iron Keep Video Walkthrough Pt. 2

First lava chest

Second lava chest

  1. As you enter the area from Earthen Peak, first head down the stairs to your left to light the Threshold Bridge bonfire. The item in the lava is a Human Effigy – with enough health, Flash Sweat, the Flame Quartz Ring and armor with decent fire resistance, you should be able to pick it up without dying.
  2. Cross the bridge towards the courtyard. There are two Alonne Knights guarding the entrance to the keep here. Draw them out, preferably by shooting an arrow at one of them, then walk backwards towards the entrance to the area, keeping one of them just out of striking distance. Their active range doesn't extend all the way across the bridge unless they're actively engaging you, so the one farther away from you will eventually back away, leaving you to deal with the other one on his own. Cross the bridge and dispose of the second knight.
  3. In the first room behind the closed door, there are another two Alonne Knights. Walk towards the first one until he reacts, then back out through the door and fight him there. The other one won't follow, for some reason, so you can fight them both separately. The item under the fire is the Iron Key; you can pick it up now if you're careful and have decent fire resistance, or just come back later when you've turned off the fire.
  4. The hallway to the right leads to Magerold of Lanafir. The stairs past the arch on the left in the hallway lead to an Alonne Knight and a Pharros Lockstone. You can also roll through the vases here to fireproof yourself and then go back through the window to pick up the Iron Key. There's an illusory wall on the right that leads to a room with a treasure chest with some Fire Arrows and a ballista facing the wall. The wall the ballista is facing is illusory and is directly behind an Alonne Knight. Open the wall and use the ballista to take him out. Be ready, though, because there's another knight you'll have to fight next to him.
  5. After speaking with Magerold (he has some information about the history of the Iron Keep that's worth listening to) and browsing his wares, head back and up the stairs. There are three knights in this room, so don't rush in. Draw the one you see immediately out without entering the room and dispose of him first, then head back in. There's a sword-wielding knight on the left and an archer on the right. Both will follow you immediately if you step inside the room, so trigger them and back out. The swordsman's active range is farther and he's faster, so your best bet is to lure him all the way outside of the building, kill him there and then go back in to fight the archer. You don't want him shooting at you while you're fencing with his buddy.
  6. Next is a big open area with lava at the bottom and a furnace in the middle. There's an archer around the corner to your right, up on a ledge. First, draw out the swordsman on the pathway to the left. He's quite a ways off in the distance, so get his attention with an arrow (without stepping forward so the archer doesn't see you) then fight him as close to the door as possible. Then deal with the archer; he'll eat quite a few arrows, so just shoot 2-3 at him at a time, then step to the right so he'll fire his arrow into the wall, then step back out and repeat.
  7. Now sprint up the pathway on the left. There's an archer on a platform at the far end, so what you want to do is run under the platform, target him, then step back and forth from under the platform in between his shots to shoot arrows at him. There's also an Alonne Captain on the platform farther up; you can aggro him from here with an arrow and he'll come down to fight you, but there's an easier way to deal with him later.
  8. Now that you've disposed of both archers, you can move around the center of the area more freely. Walk back the way you came and down the stairs. There is an Alonne Knight down here and a lever. Don't open the door yet, the inside is a furnace and flames will come out immediately. The lever brings down one side of the bridge connecting the two sides of the area. You can now run across and drop down the other side to fight the Smelter Demon if you want; the boss door is guarded by an Alonne Captain, but there's enough room to fight him comfortably here.
  9. Also on this side is a gap you can jump across to a chest containing the Zweihander, and if you jump off the right to the small platform with the staircase, you can pick up the Dull Ember for Steady Hand McDuff. Up the stairs from here is a Pharros Lockstone contraption that triggers one of the fountains that increase your fire resistance; you can use this to pick up the items in the lava below.
  10. To gain access to the rest of the Iron Keep without defeating the Smelter Demon, drop down from the half-lowered bridge to the walkway below. Up the stairs is a wheel you can turn to shut off the furnace; once you've done this, you can open the doors on either side, and you've opened up the way to the second half of the keep. There is also a lever down here that lowers the other end of the bridge, allowing you to walk back and forth between the two sides of the area. The stairs here going down towards the lava also have a pathway with a chest containing the Phoenix Parma, which requires fire resistance to cross.
  11. Inside the now-dead furnace, there are two Large Titanite Shards and a Petrified Dragon Bone. The ladder leads to a narrow walkway guarded by an Alonne Captain with an Old Radiant Lifegem and a Green Blossom at the end. You can fight him here, but it's tough as you're likely to fall off. The small ovens on either side of the path will also detonate if you or the Captain hit them. The easier way to do this is to walk back to about where you killed the archer from under the platform and just snipe him with the bow from over there.
  12. Now go back inside the furnace and climb up the ladder. From the beginning of the narrow walkway, shoot the Alonne Captain standing on the top platform to the left. He'll drop down to chase you, which is what you want because now you don't have to fight him up there and risk falling off. Or don't and go fight him if you want. If you don't want to fight him, note that he'll come all the way inside the furnace room, so your exit will be blocked.
  13. At the other end of the area is a door leading to another bridge guarded by two Ironclad Soldiers. If you aggro the one on the left, the other will turn around and begin to smash a hole in the bridge. Once triggered, let the one on the left come to you and kill him. Then walk in, jump across the gap in the bridge and walk through the door. The second Ironclad Soldier will be waiting to the left, so immediately back out and either fight him outside the door or jump back across the gap and kill him with ranged attacks. If you shoot him first, they will both walk forward to attack you.
  14. Behind the door, to the right on a raised platform, is an Alonne Knight archer. If he runs to your left when you walk in, immediately activate the lever; it will lower the platform in the middle into the lava, killing the Ironclad Soldiers standing on it and the Alonne Knight who will have run onto the platform. If the archer starts shooting arrows at you, shoot back and strafe to avoid his arrows. Activate the lever again to bring the wider bridge back up if you want. Alternatively, you can kill the soldiers and knights with ranged attacks; just be sure to strafe to avoid the Alonne Knight's arrows.
  15. On the platforms above are two Alonne Captains; you can fight them if you want their item drops, or just step on the switches next to each platform to make them fall. Make sure you don't fall to your death yourself. There is also an archer on the far left, but as long as you keep moving, you can ignore him. Or go over there; there's a Crystal Lizard on the way, and a lava pathway leading to a chest containing the Chaos Storm pyromancy, and a Fire Seed on the part of the path near the wall right of the stairs behind the archer. Be aware that stepping on the switches on the ground will trigger lava fountains that stay turned on for the rest of your playthrough.
  16. From here, you can either go up the ladder (only accessible with the upper version of the bridge activated by the lever) for some loot or to the right side of the room to the exit door. The exit door is guarded by an Ironclad Soldier. Aggro him with an arrow and he'll walk across to the left, often getting himself killed in the fire. If he makes it to you, lure him on one of the remaining platforms and step on the switch. Continue at 20 if you don't wish to go up the ladder; this is the faster way.
  17. Up the ladder is a platform with some vases that you can use to fireproof yourself and get the Chaos Storm from the chest below in the lava, and a Mimic chest containing a Lightning Winged Spear and the Dark Armor. Climb the next ladder. At the far end of the next platform is another chest containing 10 Destructive Greatarrows.
  18. The next ladder takes you to a small room with another Pharros Lockstone-activated fountain and a set of stairs. The stairs take you to an open area with three Alonne Captains. If you step outside, you will drop down and not be able to back down the stairs, so kill at least one or two of them with ranged attacks before you do. You'll find a chest here containing a Black Knight Greataxe and a corpse with a Simpleton's Spice.
  19. Now drop down the walkways; one of them has a Cracked Red Eye Orb and a Torch. When you get to the penultimate walkway to drop down to (where you can drop down to the cauldron), shoot the Alonne Knight first. Then either get to the final one via the cauldron (the item on the cauldron is a Covetous Gold Serpent Ring) or roll off the far end where the two are closest together. From here, drop down to the platform that connects to the stairway.
  20. On the stairway, you'll encounter another Ironclad Soldier, followed by another one in a narrow hallway. Behind him is a contraption that blocks your path; you can raise it with a lever in the wall, but this is essentially a trap; it drops down again after a bit, blocking your exit route, and around the corner to the right is another Ironclad Soldier who will get you caught between himself and the contraption. To avoid this, wait for it to drop down, raise it again, aggro the Ironclad Soldier, then run past the contraption to make sure you don't get trapped. If you're lucky, you'll get it between yourself and the Ironclad Soldier; or better yet, bait him to attack underneath and be killed by the trap.
  21. Next is a square room with four fire-spitting bull heads. Avoid the fire and climb up the latter to your left; it leads to the Eygil's Idol bonfire and to a switch that turns off all the fire-spitting bull heads in the keep, including the one at the very beginning that makes the Iron Key difficult to pick up. The item on the ground is a Lightning Short Bow +1.
  22. Climb back down the latter and leave through the exit at the bottom, guarded by another Ironclad Soldier. This is the way to the Old Iron King boss fight.
  23. After the boss is dead, continue into the building and open the chest. It contains Sublime Bone Dust. Use the Primal Bonfire to leave.

Map (Japanese)

Starting from the bonfire, continue through the passageway until you reach a lever in the middle of a room with cells in front of it. Here you will have 2 options to proceed through this area, both being quite difficult if you are unprepared.

Lever Route

If you use the lever in the first room, a gate will open, allowing you to bypass most of the enemies. However, you must get through the gauntlet within 8 seconds after pulling the lever, otherwise the gate will have closed.

After the first gauntlet, there is a single Astrologist. Continuing on you will reach the second gauntlet's lever. Watch out for the Fume Sorcerer that will spawn near it. After pulling this lever, you will have 8 seconds to reach the end of the gauntlet, which is longer this time. After this gauntlet, you will see another Astrologist in the leftmost passage.

Drop down the other passage to access the Possessed Armor, the 3x Old Growth Balm and the 3x Cracked Red Eye Orb in the room that precedes the blue Smelter Demon. If you summon either of the NPC phantoms, they will head for the boss door through the other route.

It is possible to clear the route from enemies before pulling the lever by using Soul Appease. It can hit them through the wall.

Dash Route

This route is accessed by dropping down the leftmost passage in the room with the first lever. This leads to a sequence of caverns which contain multiple enemies, ranged attacks can be useful as there enemies on platforms you cannot reach if you go this route. It is possible to summon the two NPC summons for this route, allowing you to ignore most of the enemies safely as you dash through.

Co-op

If you decide to summon a player phantom there are two good ways to clear out the passage, you can also run through it.

The first involved letting the phantoms through the lever gate and letting them clear out all the enemies on the ledges in the passage. Just pull the lever and let them pass through the grate and then either kill or let the Iron Warriors in the cells reset. This is not recommended if you summon a npc since they can get stuck in the passage by the grate. If you as a phantom decide to block the fireballs to allow the host through note that after blocking three shots the Iron Warriors will start to attack you.

The second involves simply killing everything in the rooms, you can try to run through the rooms but this may cause your phantom to die. If you decide on running you can stop when you have dropped down into the room with the fog door to buff, heal and change equipment.

If you decide to clear the rooms without using the lever this is easily done by shooting the casters with poison arrows and then killing the Iron Warriors. One of you shoots arrows while the other holds a shield in front of him, blocking the lighting spears and arrows. The casters on the ledges often does not recognize that they have been hit if a phantom shoots them, therefore it is best if the host shoots and the phantom blocks. Not activating the switch and killing everything is most likely the best strategy since the others can be difficult to communicate (it is the one I have had the most success with).

Majula is the central town-hub in Dark Souls II. There are several NPCs here, as well as a bonfire on the edge of town near the cliff. Emerald Herald is near the bonfire, and is the character who allows you to level up.

NPCs you meet and rescue along your quest will gather at the shrine over time and allow you to purchase Sorceries, Pyromancies, and other useful items.

Majula is often referred to as a garbage dump; the exiles of Drangleic were often sent to this area, which is why all the shacks and houses are so run down.

The mansion house in Majula contains many points of interest.

  14. Kill the piglets by the mansion fourty times, and they will turn into a giant boar. Once defeated, it will drop three Cracked Red Eye Orbs.

Majula Map (Japanese)

If you just started the game, your first trip should be to Forest of Fallen Giants. Although other areas are also early accessible from Majula, they contain dangerous foes and are best visited later.

Path to Forest of Fallen Giants

There is a path near the bonfire. Enter the tunnel, there is a metal chest in an alcove to your right, At Bonfire Intensity 2 and SotFS it's a Mimic that drops a Rusted Coin. Follow the tunnel until you encounter a gate. Pull the lever and enter Forest of Fallen Giants.

Path to Heide's Tower of Flame

Between Shalquoir's house and path to Company of Champions there is an entrance. For now, ignore the mechanism in the rotunda room. Follow the stairs down. There is a metal chest to the left at the bottom of the stairs. You will see a big gate, open it with a pulley and enter Heide's Tower of Flame.

Path to Huntsman's Copse

You can only enter this area if you defeated the Dragonrider and talked to Licia of Lindeldt. If you did so, she moved to the rotunda room. Talk to her here and she will offer to open the path to Huntsman's Copse for 2,000 souls.

Path to Grave of Saints and the Gutter

If you already finished Earthen Peak and killed the boss there, Laddersmith Gilligan will be sitting next to the Pit. You can pay him to set up ladders that will lead you down to these areas. As an alternative you can buy a Silvercat Ring from Sweet Shalquoir which will reduce damage taken from falling. Drop down one ledge at a time and heal when you take damage. First opening will lead to Grave of Saints and the one beneath it leads to the Gutter.

Path to Shaded Woods

Backtrack as you would go to Things Betwixt but go right. You will enter the path that leads to Shaded Woods. Benhart of Jugo is sitting here. He can't move forward just as you, until you unpetrify Rosabeth of Melfia. She was turned to stone and is blocking the lever. Use a Fragrant Branch of Yore to unpetrify her and unlock the entrance to Shaded Woods.

Video Walkthrough - All items and Boss Fight

Cross the bridge from the bonfire after the Dragonrider fight in Heide's Tower of Flame, and head down the spiral staircase. Before exiting the room, head around and underneath the staircase to find a Monastery Charm. Continuing forward, you will fight a greatsword-wielding Old Knight, then one with a sword and shield. Try not to kill the one with the Greatsword before getting too close to the other. If you head along the path where the sword-and-shield Old Knight was standing, you will find a few dead bodies holding Dark Troches and an Old Knight Halberd. Continue through the area to the right.

After descending the stairs and exiting into the bigger room, you can either head right or left. Left is a dead end, so head right and kill the Old Knight in the way. Go down the elevator to the flooded area. Continue down the path, but be careful of the Old Knight on your left. Head up the staircase behind him and head to the right for a treasure chest containing the Knight Set of armor. In SotFS, the Old Knight is replaced by several hollows hidden in the water and a Basilisk, there's a petrified hollow blocking stairs. Use a Fragrant Branch of Yore to get past him and pick up the Estus Flask Shard on the corpse nearby, behind the Rusted Primal Knight.

Go back down the stairs to where you fought the Old Knight and continue along the hallway. Head through the hole in the wall to reach a bonfire.

Bonfire: Unseen Path to Heide

The woman standing next to the bonfire is Lucatiel of Mirrah.** Talk to her a few times to exhaust her dialogue and get her to warm up to you, allowing you to summon her for future boss fights. Continue out into the wharf, but as you do, be wary of the body on the ground to your left, as it is an enemy playing dead. Ignore the enemy shooting arrows for now and head straight into the room with the light and a few tables. Two hollows will attack, one from either side, so be careful. Go up the stairs for a chest containing a Titanite Shard. Go out onto the balcony and kill the enemy there, then grab the Soul of a Proud Knight. Head towards the enemy shooting arrows at you. When you fight him, the portion of the bridge might collapse, but don't fret. You won't have to backtrack or anything, but you might pull the aggro of a few enemies at once, rather than one at a time.

Start heading across the bridge left of the archer, grabbing the Large Soul of a Lost Undead and the Lifegem in the water to the left along the way. If he hasn't yet, an enemy dual wielding swords will attack you. He is weak and can be stunlocked pretty easily, but he can dish out quite a bit of damage if you get caught in a combo. Head into the shack on the left for Dark Pine Resin x3. Ignore the stairs leading up for now. There is an enemy in the other shack, but nothing else. In the building to the right of that, there is a Dark Stalker enemy. These can be very dangerous due to their far reaching attacks, so try to bait them into attacking, roll past, then combo from behind, and repeat. Additionally, Dark Stalkers are afraid of light, so light a torch and chase them back, then finish them off with a weapon. In the building containing the Dark Stalker, there are a measly ten Iron Arrows.

Go up the staircase in between the shacks. There is a small doorway on the left. It doesn't lead to anything (there is another hollow waiting there, kill the hollow and then break the shelf, it leads to a hidden copse with Ring of Life Protection)***; it just provides an alternate path to the top. Be careful of all the enemies at the top. It is easy to be overwhelmed, so retreat down the staircase and pick them off as necessary. Midway, head to the right, instead. Kill the hollowed soldier and the dog, and be careful of the archer on the roof. Before heading left into the building, head right to where a Pharros Lock can be found. Activation of the Pharros Lock lights up the giant lantern over this area giving protection from Dark Stalker attacks. If you walk off behind the Pharros Lock, you can find a corpse with three Smooth and Silky Stones and a Large Soul of a Proud Knight. Head back around and into the building with the archer. On the ground floor, there are three hollows, with two playing dead at a table to your left. Dispatch them, then head behind the bar on your left to find a chest containing a Bandit Axe and the Brigand Armor set. Go upstairs, but be careful of the enemy that will drop down behind you. If you run up quickly enough, you can attack him before he turns around to come after you. Grab the chest he was standing in front of for a Repair Powder and a Titanite Shard. On the balcony, kill the archer and notice the door on your left. This is a shortcut that can be accessed later from the other side. Drop down from the balcony.

Go back to the staircase in between the shacks and continue up. The building on your left with a hole in the face leads to a dead end, so ignore it and head right. Go past the other building with a hole in the front, as it also contains nothing, and head up the stairs alongside it, which lead to several Dark Stalker enemies. The dead body on the ledge to the right after the third Dark Stalker is holding a Large Soul of a Lost Undead and the Emit Force miracle. Head into the building opposite the dead body, but be careful, as there will be several Dark Stalkers that burst through the left wall inside as you try to access the door. Lure them out so as not to get pinned against a wall. After killing all four Dark Stalkers inside the building, go into the room upstairs to find two chests. The one on the left contains a Greatsword. The one on the right has two Silver Talismans, but be very careful, as it also contains an arrow trap that will trigger when you open it, so put your shield up and try to get slightly to the left or right to stand between the arrows. In this room, you will also find Lonesome Gavlan for the first time. Gavlan is a merchant that will sell you several items, but more importantly, will buy items no longer needed from you in exchange for souls. This is a great way to get something back for the items you know you will never use or duplicates of an item. It is also recommended to buy the Ring of Giants that he sells for 5,000 souls, which increases poise, as it is likely that you don't have many rings at this point in the game, and this one is quite useful. Also, it would help to buy some poison attack items like the throwing knives or the Rotten Pine Resin for the upcoming boss fight.

After wheeling and dealing with Gavlan, exit the building and continue along the path. Go up the stairs in the next building, killing the hollows along the way, to find a lever. Pull this lever to cause the ghost ship to reposition itself closer to you. Roll down to the area left of the lever to find a generous corpse who kindly relinquishes its two Lifegems and its Homeward Bone. Turn around and face the area you dropped from and fall down to another platform with a doorway. On the stairs is a body holding some Fire Arrows. Downstairs, two Dark Stalkers wait for you. Exit and walk to the right down the rocky slope to an area where you can light your torch to help fight the Dark Stalkers you find nearby. Go into the small building just beyond that fire. Up against the wall under the staircase, there is an illusory wall, so walk up to it and press X (A on XB360) to find one chest containing three Firebombs and another with a Large Titanite Shard. Go upstairs and interact with the pullchain to open the aforementioned shortcut to the earlier areas of the wharf. Exit this building.

Before going down where the Dark Stalker was to get to the ghost ship, head left into a room with two hollows playing dead at a table and several jars of poison. On the right is a chest with an Estus Flask Shard. Immediately to the left of this chest, you will notice a section of the wall looks a bit out of place. Attack it to break it down, yielding a nice little hidden treasure trove. Kill the Crystal Lizard for its ore, then grab the Soul of a Nameless Soldier, Large Soul of a Nameless Soldier, Lifegem x3, Fading Soul, and Royal Soldier's Ring on the bodies and in the chest, respectively. Lastly, Throwing Knife x7 and a Flame Butterfly await behind two more poison jars in this room. Exit, and continue on towards the ghost ship.

Grab the Human Effigy and Lifegem x2 on the dead body draped across the sunken rowboat in the shallow water, but be wary of the enemy to the right of it. There are a couple enemies hanging off the side of the bridge that will ambush you as you pass, so pay heed. Before going towards the ghost ship, go right along the bridge, then left to the platform. Here, you will find Carhillion of the Fold, who will sell you spells and sorcery-related items, but only if you talk to him with at least 8 INT (the Ring of Knowledge can not be used to meet this requirement). Be sure to exhaust his dialogue fully to get him to relocate to Majula. When finished, go to the ghost ship.

On the deck of the ship, four hollows will attack, so take them out and go inside the ship. Through the fog gate is the boss fight.

Quicker Route

There is a much quicker route through No-man's Wharf if you do not wish to get all of the loot. First you must use a bow or crossbow to snipe the bell that summons the ship containing the Flexile Sentry. After which you continue normally through the area activating the light using the Pharros' Lockstone as described above if you wish. After which you will go up the stairs and walking towards the house containing Lonesome Gavlan. Right before this there you will see a item on a small outcropping this is the miracle Emit Force and after collecting it turn right and look down and you will see a wooden ledge below you. You have to walk off the outcropping so that you land on the ledge and then fall down to the next ledge and finally the ground. If you do this correctly you will take very little damage and you will be right before the staircase leading to the dock that connects to the ship. After that you just continue and fight the Flexile Sentry as the next section details. This path is for those who dislike the area and just wish to get it over with and will get you done in about 5 minutes if that if you kill the boss on the first try. This route is not faster than the shortcut but you do have to fight less enemies and as such you can just sprint through.

Boss Fight: Flexile Sentry

The Flexile Sentry is an enemy with two torsos sharing a pair of legs. One side of him has scimitars, which attack quickly. The other side has two clubs, which are slower, but do more damage. Since he has no back, try to stay close, bait him into attacking, then move to his side and combo a bit, then back off. The pillar in the middle of the room can be useful for separating you from the boss, especially if you don't have a 100% Phys Reduction shield. The poison items make this fight go much more quickly, so try to use them. After two minutes the water in the room will begin to rise. It won't kill you, but it will make it much harder to move around, so try to kill him as quickly as possible.

After the Flexile Sentry is dead, be sure to get the treasure chest in the room up the ladder for a Pyromancy Flame and the Fireball pyromancy, then interact with the compass to be taken to the Lost Bastille.

The shrine serves as a barrier to Drangleic Castle.

How to Open

Obtaining the following 4 boss souls during the current playthrough will allow the door to open:

Alternatively, this requirement can be bypassed by obtaining enough souls. It requires 1 million souls in the first playthrough, and in subsequent playthroughs, an additional million each time.

Note that it is not based on souls currently held, nor your total Soul Memory. It is based on the total number of souls obtained during your current playthrough. If you began NG+ with 5 million Soul Memory, it'll need to pass 7 million in order to meet the 2 million requirement.

In Dark Souls II, an easy way to meet the requirement of obtaining 2 million souls in NG+ is to collect 80 Giant Lord Souls in the Memory of Jeigh in NG using the respawning Bonfire Ascetic. This is especially useful for No Death runs. However, note that this will make the fight with the Giant Lord - which is necessary for completing the game - significantly harder.

In Scholar of the First Sin, an easier method is to farm the Soul of a Great Hero in the Dragon Aerie in NG, which is on a ledge accessed by dropping from the zip line near the bonfire. A respawning Bonfire Ascetic is also located in the first cave nearby, and the entire area can be bypassed in NG+ and above. Using Soul of a Great Hero exclusively to meet the 2M requirement will require collecting 99; getting the extra 20,000 souls at the start of NG+ should be trivial. Fewer are required depending on how many other types of souls you have available to consume.

Sinner's Rise Video Walkthrough with Boss

In Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, the flooded area after the elevator ride contains a Flexile Sentry where the Enhanced Undead were previously. On Bonfire ascetic 2, two Enhanced Undead are also present, as well as Black Phantom Undead Citizen.

You enter the area by crossing a long straight bridge, with crossbow snipers firing down at you. Open the main doors and follow the broken ledges around to the gap in the wall. Go right and up the ladder to reach the area's only bonfire. Before resting there, go right around the corner of the tower and take out the three Royal Swordsman who were sniping you in the beginning. These enemies will attack you every time you get up from the bonfire. Grab the loot on the ledge inside the tower and then go back to rest at the bonfire.

Head back down the ladder and follow the stairs leading around the perimeter of the building and kill another Royal Swordsman. There are three more in the room with the elevator. Once they have been killed, take the elevator down to the basement. Look out for the treasure on a platform just before reaching the bottom. Jump from the elevator to get five Lacerating Knifes. You should then be able to safely drop down to ground below. The room you arrive in is safe, so prepare for a relatively difficult set of battles as you proceed.

The next area is flooded, which limits your mobility. There are three Enhanced Undead waiting for you. It is highly recommended that you only aggro them one at a time. With patience you can lure them back to the elevator room one at a time, so that you have better mobility. If you send the elevator back up they can be tricked into falling into the hole beneath by locking on and rolling away but of course this wastes any items they may drop. A nice trick is to get them to follow you onto the elevator platform and then activate it and roll away. The monster will go up on the platform and usually fall off to land on the platform over your head where they can be safely picked off with sorcery or arrows, leaving their drops available but remember to recall the elevator, ride it back up and come back down to retrieve dropped items as you will be stuck on the platform unable to call the elevator back down. it is possible to roll down and land on the ground but tricky so keep it simple.

Once they are dead, collect the random loot in the area. There is also an illusory wall (interact) close to the stairs from the elevator. Head down the stairs and go right; on the right wall, is a wall that opens to reveal a corpse with the Northern Ritual Band. Use caution in this area, as the ground only extends a few feet out; don't explore away from the loot corpse.

Proceeding halfway into the flooded area offers you a branching path and the opportunity to go upstairs to either the right or left. The locked cell on the upper left is opened with the Bastille Key. Your path forward is how to progress forward. Once you pass those stairwells, you will find several open cells with loot and home to several Undead Citizen. Again, try to draw them out one at a time, since getting swarmed makes this area significantly more difficult.

Once they are dead, it is essentially a straight, unimpeded run to the boss fog gate. If you have defeated the Belfry Gargoyles in Belfry Luna and have attained the Bastille Key already, you can proceed up the stairs to either side of the fog gate to light oil, which will illuminate the boss room.

It is also possible to summon Lucatiel to help in this fight. Her sign is at the bottom of the elevator.

In scholar of the first sin it is possible to summon Sellsword Luet

You can now head through the fog gate to challenge the Lost Sinner.

After the boss fight, be sure to open the chest before using the Primal Bonfire. It contains a Fragrant Branch of Yore.

The Gutter in 60 seconds

The first Bonfire (Upper Gutter) is directly to your right when you enter the zone. Jump onto the platform where you can see a treasure glowing. From there you access to the bonfire.

If you take a left from the first bonfire, jump onto the lower platform with the Undead Prisoners (one which wields a torch), and then take the ladder up, you will find a door which can be opened with the Forgotten Key. Inside is Havel's Set and Havel's Greatshield.

From the bonfire you can go on your right a first platform where a Hunting Dog awaits you. Circle around it and you should be fine. Be careful not to wander too much because there are two hollows sitting right behind the wall. Kill them and break the Poison Shooting Statue. Light the head of the broken statue with your Torch to see where you're going.

Progress like this until you find yourself on a ground platform. From there you can fall on the right edge on a second ground platform below. Climb on the wooden structure and jump to a ledge on the wall where a chest awaits you containing the Ring of Soul Protection. The scripted event of NPC Melinda the Butcher invading occurs here. From the ledge where the Ring of Soul Protection is, you can run/jump back into a room in the middle of the wooden structure containing a Mimic3 holding a Lightning Winged Spear and Dark Armor.
In Dark Souls 2 the chest(not a Mimic) contains Twinkling Titanite 1x and Small Smooth and Silky Stone 3x. The Mimic loot may fall through the wooden floor, in which case you can carefully drop through a hole in the corner of the room to the floor below.

The second bonfire is just after the first small fog door on a wooden structure. You need to break through a wall to gain access to it.

One of the ladders from the platform of the second bonfire conducts you to Black Gulch (the one near two big jars). Collect the Fragrant Branch of Yore. Beware of the green statues on the left and enter Black Gulch.

The Lost Bastille Video Walkthrough to Boss

Your first trip here may be by using the nest after defeating the Pursuer boss in the Forest of Fallen Giants. If this is the case, you will land at the Tower Apart bonfire. It is possible to clear the entirety of the Bastille from here without having ever visited No-Man's Wharf. You cannot, however, travel from the Lost Bastille to No-Man's Wharf until you have first defeated the Flexile Sentry.

When you land, go up in the elevator, and then, when it starts to go down, jump on the top and wait until it reaches the bottom again. You can access now a little cave with a corpse where you can obtain a Scimitar and one Repair Powder. Go back to the elevator room through the hole and take the elevator again in order to reach the cells. There will be a bonfire in a cell on the left and two Common Fruit in another cell.

Bonfire: Exile Holding Cells

Once you're ready, run along the path and you will come to another Heide Knight. Like the one in Forest of Fallen Giants, you can choose to fight or leave him be. If you defeat him, you will obtain a Heide Spear, a decent weapon for the spear users. Don't take the ladder down, instead drop down the destroyed wall at the end of the path and go right, towards the water. Here there will be a corpse with Soul of a Proud Knight and Human Effigy. Now drop down to the left into the courtyard.

In the courtyard, you will fight a couple Stray Dogs. Either defeat the second dog standing near the wood tower or lure him towards you with a long-range attack, because getting close to this wood tower will trigger an Undead Jailor to drop down and fight you. It is also possible to attack the jailor from above by choosing where you drop down. On the ground. if you attack the wood tower in the back corner, it will break and a corpse containing Alluring Skull will fall down. Now, defeat the Undead Jailor and look at the wall on the left to find a narrow path that leads to a chest with an Estus Flask Shard and a Large Titanite Shard. Go back and continue, open the door with the lever near it and kill two more Stray Dogs. You will notice a door but you can't open it yet. There is a shortcut lever that opens the path back to the McDuff bonfire, but we won't do more than unlock it and turn around.

Here you have a choice of breaking a wall that leads to a small armoury with a Royal Swordsman and two Undead Citizens, with a door that cuts through another courtyard, or taking a ladder back up to the higher walls. First we will go up the ladder and unlock a bonfire and blacksmith.

On the top you will see a Undead Jailor and a barrel. When the Jailor notices you, he will bump the barrel downstairs. You have to stay close to the wall that has a big crack and dodge in the last moment, this will blast the wall and reveal a bonfire (McDuff's Workshop) and a way to Steady Hand McDuff. If the Jailor did not push the barrel or you killed him before he did, you can push it yourself. Steady Hand McDuff will not serve as a merchant yet. When facing McDuff, the first chest on your right contains two Large Titanite Shards, and the second chest contains five Titanite Shards. The left chest contains 10 Iron Arrows, and the chest in the corner contains 10 Heavy Bolts. You will notice another chest under McDuff, light the sconce in this room and rest at the bonfire and he will move, allowing you to loot the Craftsman's Hammer and a Twinkling Titanite.

Attacking the large rock on the edge of the well will bring up a cage containing several Undead Citizen who will drop the Wanderer Set. Within the two side rooms are home to several Royal Swordsman each. In the room with the crossbow Royal Swordsman, on the ledge directly opposite the door, there is a breakable wall. Destroy the powder kegs to reveal the Archdrake Robes and an Archdrake Shield. Continue past that room to another larger room with another slot for a Pharros Lockstone and several chests containing a Bone Staff, a Parrying Dagger and the Twinblade. Using the Lockstone also allows access to two additional rooms with loot, simply attack the Pharros faces to reveal them.

Bonfire: McDuff's Workshop

Go straight carefully, kill the Undead Jailor and a Stray Dog. You will notice a corpse on the top of the left wall, don't worry about it until later. To the right there will be another dog and a corpse with Gold Pine Resin. Keep going forward, kill the undead Jailor and before entering the tower, go up to the little wall on the left and walk carefully to the ladder. On top will be a corpse with a Large Titanite Shard. Jump down and meet Lucatiel of Mirrah, if you exhausted all the dialogues back in No-man's Wharf. Talk with her until you hear all the dialogues. Now, make sure you have full HP. Get close to the door in this room. You will notice that you can't open it, but, if you attack the door, you will blow up some barrels that are behind it, allowing you to open the door now. You can also shoot the barrels, as they are visible from the balcony outside. Go ahead and kill another Undead Jailor. Go to the right until you find a room with three Stray Dogs on the bottom and a Royal Swordsman. If you have ranged weapons, use the platform where you are as a sniper point, if not, jump down and run to the other ladder, go up, kill the undead and then the dogs. Keep going until you reach a chest with Antiquated Key and Covetous Silver Serpent Ring.

Soul Vessel
You will need a Pharros Lockstone to reach that one. From Steady Hand McDuff's Workshop go back to the area with the wooden scaffolding, enter in the building blocked by planks, then go outside again in the area with the well. From there enter the next building and on the elevated surface facing the door you came through take the left, if you reached that room from the ladder outside instead then it is straight ahead. In that next room there is a Pharros' lock on the right, the secret wall will appear on the left once triggered. The Soul Vessel is in the wooden chest behind.

Bonfire: The Tower Apart

If you reached this bonfire after defeating the Pursuer, it is the closest warp point to Lucatiel's tower. For most players this will be a one-way shortcut with some extra items available by walking on the balcony towards the chest mentioned above. Acrobatic players that skipped the Pursuer can still reach the bonfire and the extra items via carefully timed jump over the rubble to the left of the entrance of the building that contains the chest.

Go back to the tower where you met Lucatiel and then head left, through the broken wall, to another platform with a narrow path and a door at the end. This part will be a bit tricky. Open the door and take a look inside. You will see a crossbow Royal Swordsman standing. Try to get his attention from this spot, he will go after you, along with another swordsman. Go back to the platform and fight them.

When you are done, cross the door and three more swordsmen will attack you, coming from the left. Go straight where the swordsman was, and fight them there. If you go downstairs you will find another swordsman and a corpse with Soul of a Proud Knight and Human Effigy near a ladder. Ignore the ladder for now and go back to the door. Go left and kill two more swordsmen. Open the door with the lever and kill another two (be careful if you die, because the door will be opened and you will have to fight FOUR swordsmen at a time instead two). The third cell on the right will contain 2 Radiant Lifegems.

You can find the summon sign of Pilgrim Bellclaire in a nearby cell. Whether you summon her or not, prepare for a boss fight.

Boss Fight: Ruin Sentinels

Cross the fog and you will drop down to a platform, take care of your left and start the fight against the Ruin Sentinels. You will be fighting three of them. However upon landing only one will ever engage you until he either dies or you leave the platform. The Sentinels can jump up to the platform should you stay on it. It is suggested to fall down onto the main floor when the first is dispatched so you have room to avoid their attacks.

See the Ruin Sentinels article for more information.

When the fight is over, there are numerous hidden doors within this area. They are opened by facing them and pressing the Activate button. You'll find a Target Shield in a chest and a Rusted Coin on a corpse behind two of those doors. Inside one of these is a ladder with a chest down a hallway containing the sorcery Hush. In that same hallway is another hidden door that leads back to the boss room area with a corpse holding 3 Homeward Bones. This is the same corpse visible from within the boss fight. The broken double doors indicate the route you came from. Progress through the only natural doorway. At the top of the staircase there is another hidden doorway. Inside is an Undead Citizen beside a breakable chest. The chest contains a Rouge Water (three Crimson Water at Bonfire Intensity 2 or above) which turn to Rubbish should the chest be destroyed. When you are done, keep going until you reach a narrow path with cells on the side. On the last cell there will be a skeleton with a trap that will explode. After this, you will arrive at the next bonfire.

Bonfire: Servants' Quarters

Near the bonfire, there is a ladder leading down. In the room below, there is a Stray Dog, a corpse with a Large Club, a chest containing a Priest's Chime, and a Pharros' Contraption that hides a door. Unlock the contraption to open the door that leads to Belfry Luna. Back in the Servant's Quarters Bonfire room, ascend the stairs to the elevated area, and exit the room through the door. Close this door to reveal treasure on a corpse. To your left there will be an undead Jailor with pyromancy, so be careful. There is a corpse behind the crates and barrels with a Human Effigy. Once you are done go back and take the other way, towards a tower.

The path here splits, with a staircase to the right leading up the tower, and an exit to the left. These paths will rejoin shortly, but to the left exit has useful items and a shortcut back to the courtyard (by dropping off the roof near McDuff's bonfire). Go through the exit, though be mindful of an undead jailor immediately to the left. Go ahead and drop to the roof on your right. Search for a corpse with a Flame Butterfly. Run and jump to the opposite roof. There is a corpse with a Large Soul of a Nameless Soldier. At this point, you can climb the ladder and through a window to rejoin the path the stairs in the tower would have lead you to. Up the ladder head right, into the storage room filled with barrels. There is an Undead Citizen hiding, and a door that leads nowhere and contains nothing. Back down the hall with the window is a shortcut gate controlled by the nearby lever. Be careful when opening the gate, as there are three undead citizens here, and one of them can inflict curse. Progressing farther loops back to a familiar room with many undead citizens and breakable jars. Immediately above you is an undead citizen next to a powder keg, and to the right is a staircase leading back earlier in the level.

In the next room there are three citizens, two hiding in the pot-like things and one ledge just above the door you entered through. After you finish them, go down the hall near a grated wall, to find a secret wall at the end. Interact with it to open it and keep going. This will lead to a curving hall with a long diagonal section. There is another secret door in this hallway, which will lead you outside again. From this point, there are several sets of treasure to get which require some non-reversible drops, so you will have to come this way multiple times. Have some Homeward Bone ready if you don't want to lose time here. First, jump to the platform in front of you, there will be a corpse with a Flame Butterfly and three Torches. Then, drop yourself carefully into the narrow wall. Go to the end of the wall and you will find a corpse with a Soul of a Brave Warrior and a Golden Wing Shield. Go back to the place before jumping and head left, there will be a corpse with Bracing Knuckle Ring. If you look down, you will see a platform with a corpse. Drop down and loot an Alluring Skull, at which point you will be in a courtyard near the Exile Holding Cells bonfire.

Surviving the fall

The first fall is the furthest, and thus causes the most damage.

At absolute minimum, around 1368 total combined HP and fall damage reduction is required to survive the fall.

Determining an exact minimum needed to survive can be difficult because both equip weight and forward momentum slightly increase fall damage.

A small dimensional rift that exists between Drangleic and the outside world,
this seemingly peaceful limbo serves as a gateway between the two realms.
It lies deep within a shadowy cavern and traverses an ancient forest rising from subterranean lake.

The forest serves as a proving ground for visitors and hides a great many secrets for those willing to seek them out,

The Majula Mansion is a large, mysterious house found in Majula. It can be accessed after obtaining the House Key from Cale the Cartographer. In addition to containing several useful items, the mansion includes a unique item chest, and an unlabeled map of Drangleic.

Basement Skeletons

Initially, there is a lone Skeleton in the basement. Killing it is required to allow Cale to appear by the map.

An additional skeleton will appear with every increase in Bonfire Intensity, allowing up to 8 total. The skeletons do not respawn unless Bonfire Intensity is increased, and they are each guaranteed to drop a Human Effigy.

Majula Mansion Chest

The chest found in the basement of the Majula mansion is a unique chest whose contents can change with online events. The special event items are added through calibrations updates, though they can be added 'silently', without updating the displayed calibrations version on the main menu.

Contents

By default, the chest always contains 1 Soul Vessel. The Soul Vessel is still available when other special items are added into the chest, though it may require reloading the game or playing in offline mode to obtain separately.

Turning the Flames Blue

It is possible to make the flames on the map appear blue in color, though there is no known reward or effect for accomplishing this.

With the flames already lit, this will occur after using 8 Bonfire Ascetics on a flame's corresponding bonfire.3

Footnotes 1. Rubbish was found in the chest by some players after obtaining the Murakumo, so it likely coincided with its time slot. Though the exact dates are uncertain. 2. The Katana overstayed its announced time slot by two extra days, lasting until the 7th instead of the 5th. 3. Note that getting the blue flames to appear is independent of the New Game Plus cycle or Bonfire Intensity. A player who has made it all the way to NG+10 without using any ascetics will NOT have blue flames appear, as it is achieved only by using at least 8 ascetics on the necessary bonfire.
